When
Lloydalists had a chance to chat with Harry Lloyd at the Closer to the Moon (2013) premiere in November 2013 (see entry HERE), we asked
Harry about his upcoming projects. He
mentioned that work on Big Significant
Things (2014) was continuing for the time being, and while he was in the
United States that particular Thanksgiving weekend, he hoped to do some
additional work on that picture, filmed in Mississippi earlier last year
(on-set shots from May 2013 can be viewed HERE).
Well,
we can be “thanks-giving” again, for Big
Significant Things is slated to have its World Premiere next month at the
prestigious (and riotously good) SXSW
film, music, and media festival. On
January 30th, the production company for the film shared its news
via Twitter:
The
SXSW film lineup “includes 68 films
from first-time filmmakers and features 76 world premieres. The films were
selected from a record 2,215 feature-length film submissions composed of 1,540
U.S. and 675 international feature-length films” (American-Statesman).

Things (2014), starring Harry Lloyd. © Uncorked Productions
The
official film page for the festival can be found HERE.
The
official synopsis of the 85-minute film, which stars principally Harry Lloyd
and actress Krista Kosonen, is as follows: “At 26 years old, Craig (Harry
Lloyd) seems to be doing pretty well for himself. He has job stability, a
supportive family, and is about to start a wonderful new chapter with his
girlfriend. With big life changes on the horizon, what better time to lie to
your girlfriend so you can go on a road trip by yourself to the south?” (Big; “BST”).
The
briefer synopsis posted by IndieWire
is a bit more mysterious: “A week before they move across the country together,
Craig lies to his girlfriend in order to go on his first road trip—to the
south. Alone” (Saadi).

This
is Bryan Reisberg’s first feature-film, although he has directed shorts and
music videos in the past. If Big Significant Things becomes the
beginning of a burgeoning career in the longer form for Reisberg, Harry will
have yet another reason to feel like he’s part of something momentous. According to the SXSW page for the film, too,
Harry is also one of the Executive Producers of the film, along with Burton
Ritchie (“BST”). And after part of 2013
was spent in search of a musician to contribute to the film, the movie has
finally been scored by Mark Orton, who recently recorded the music for the
Academy Award-nominated Nebraska
(2013).
We
look forward to seeing Harry channel his inner, road-tripping American,
practice his accent (watch his official Curtis Brown Agency Show Reel for a glimpse of the film and a sound of his
neat-yet-surprisingly-unexpected American voice), and, of course, watching him
blossom further on the big screen. As a
side note: it won’t just be Harry dabbling in new accents: Big Significant Things is Krista Kosonen, first English-language
film (Keslassy).
Hopefully,
the movie will garner interest at SXSW, get picked up by a larger market, and
be distributed more widely so that those unable to attend the festival have a
chance to enjoy some big significant memories about Big Significant Things.

is conveniently missing). © Uncorked Productions and The Curtis Brown Literary

The
2014 SxSW festival runs from March
7-15 and, as of time of this post, screening times of Big Significant Things are “coming soon” (Big).
In
the meantime: stay-tuned to Lloydalists here on our blog and on Twitter
@Lloydalists for more about this film and Harry’s other upcoming works, as well
as a few “Flashback” moments to previous projects. Lloydalists has been working hard to bring
you news for 2014 and we have a few tricks up our sleeves, as will be revealed
in the coming weeks and months.
