Twitter
has been largely (if not wholly) responsible for our brief snippets of
sets-in-progress. Sadly, no sign of
Harry and the rest of the cast, but at least we have a little
something to whet the appetite.
K
and C had been wishfully thinking about some news on The Fear when, on September
12, Drama on [Channel] 4’s Twitter feed posted an ominous photo of the
mini-series’ set, positioning The Fear
as something that, yes, is meant to stir up at least a tiny bit of fear in its
viewers. Alex G. Wells, the Drama Publicity
Manager at Channel 4, later posted a similar, better quality photo on Instagram
(Wells). Suspenseful, indeed! The shot
is actually so mesmerizingly eerie that it looks like a seascape oil painting
depicting an oncoming storm. Perhaps a
reflection of the psychomachiac “storms” that seem to be an inevitable part of
this drama? On Twitter, and linking the
Instagram photo, Wells added the caption, “The happy, ‘what could possibly go
wrong’ opening scene” of The Fear. We already love the tone and feel of this
mysterious, deep project!

On
September 13, some interest-piqued
Brighton locals tweeted about the presence of The Fear set being pulled into town. One lucky resident not far
from the set Tweeted that day that The Fear was currently filming one night
“outside my window apparently” (Barrenechea).
He offered a photograph of the nighttime setting, with film lights off
in the distance. Yet another local
remarked enthusiastically, “Channel 4 are filming a drama/ thriller thing
called 'The Fear' outside my flat. They seem to be simulating a blaze. Exciting
stuff!” (Swayne).
On
September 16, writer/cartoonist Séan
Baldwin (@hectamus) posted a photo on Twitter with the caption, “Channel 4's
'The Fear' setting up at Brighton Bandstand earlier today” (Baldwin).

For
the latest-breaking news, you can check out @Lloydalists on Twitter, as we will
retweet the latest news and tidbits as they trickle in.
While
the photos may be too few and far between at the moment, we’re optimistic and
cannot wait until the year draws us closer to the advertisements, publicity,
and eventual broadcasting of The Fear. And if you happen to be close-by the set of
the new mini-series, feel free to drop Lloydalists a line (or two—or a photo!)
and let us know if you’ve any thoughts about or reactions to what you’ve seen.
Best
wishes to the cast and crew as they continue making progress on the Channel 4
series!
